St Lawrence Market

    Address: Front and Jarvis

Opening time: Tues– Thurs 8am–6pm, Fri 8am–7pm & Sat 5am–5pm

    Website: www.stlawrencemarket.com

A capacious red-brick building of 1844 that holds the city's best food and drink market. Spread out across the main and lower levels are stalls selling everything from fish and freshly baked bread to international foodstuffs, all sorts of organic edibles and Ontario specialities – cheese, jellies, jams and fern fiddleheads to name but four. The market is at its busiest on Saturday, which also means that you can drop by the North St Lawrence Market, an authentic farmers' market (Sat 5am–5pm) housed in the long brick building opposite, on the north side of Front Street.
