CBC Broadcasting Centre
Address: 250 Front St W
Website: www.cbc.ca/museum
The CBC Broadcasting Centre is a ten-storey edifice whose painted gridiron beams make the building aesthetically bearable, but not much more. Since its foundation in 1936, CBC – the Canadian Broadcasting Company – has built up an international reputation for the impartiality of its radio and television news and, although it carries commercials unlike the UK's BBC, it remains in public ownership and directly responsible to the federal Parliament. At the modest CBC museum (Mon– Fri 9am–5pm, Sat noon–4pm; free), you canlook at vintage CBC TV shows in a mini– theatre.
