Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park, some 32km west of Thunder Bay, is named after the powerful 39-metre waterfall at its heart. The erosion caused by the scouring water has exposed layers of rock over a billion years old, allowing scientists to examine some of the oldest fossils ever found. There are two viewing platforms above the falls and a roped off area for swimming.
