    Ottawa International Airport ( www.ottawa-airport.ca ) is located about 15km south of the city centre. From the airport, a hotel shuttle bus (daily every 30min 7am–5.30pm, plus intermittent service 5am–7am & 5.30–11.30pm; $14 one-way, $20 return; 613/260-2359, www.yowshuttle.com ) runs to various downtown hotels. City bus #97 (daily every 20min 5am–2am), operated by OC Transpo, makes the same journey at a fraction of the cost and will drop you downtown on Albert Street at Kent Street. A taxi from the airport to downtown will set you back about $25.

    Ottawa's VIA train station ( 1-888/842-7245, www.viarail.ca ) is on the southeastern outskirts of the city, about 4km from the centre, off the Queensway (Hwy 417) at 200 Tremblay Rd. There are direct VIA Rail services to and from Kingston, Montréal and Toronto. OC Transpo bus #95 goes downtown from the train station; the same journey by taxi costs about $15. Long-distance buses, including Greyhound ( 1-800/661-8747, www.greyhound.ca ), use the bus station, 3km south of the city centre at 265 Catherine St and Kent, just off the Queensway (Hwy 417). Take OC Transpo bus #4 to get downtown.
