There are 23 guest rooms, all en suite, and although the furnishings and fittings are rather pedestrian, each is very comfortable. In a residential area within easy walking distance of the centre.     3 Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront 2 Princess St 613/549-8400 or 1-800/465-4329 www.hikingstonwaterfront.com Not the most distinctive of the city's hotels, for sure, but the rooms are comfortable enough and it couldn't be more convenient for the centre. Most rooms have lake views. Price: $126-175

    6 Author Pick Rosemount B&B Inn 46 Sydenham St South 613/531-8844 or 1-888/871-8844 www.rosemountinn.com An eminently appealing B&B, which occupies a strikingly handsome, distinctively Italianate old limestone villa – one of Kingston's finest buildings. The Rosemount has ten guest rooms, all en suite, decorated in immaculate period style. The breakfasts are delicious too. Price: $126-175

    7 Author Pick Secret Garden B&B 73 Sydenham St 613/531-9884 or 1-877/723-1888 www.the-secret-garden.com One of Kingston's most enjoyable B&Bs, there are seven extremely comfortable guest rooms here, all en suite and each decorated in charming antique style. The house itself is a fetching Victorian building of timber and brick with verandas and porches and a splendid bay-windowed tower. Faces the slender limestone symmetries of Sydenham St United Church.
