The Rooms are lavish new premises built to exhibit in one setting the various historical, ethnographic and fine art collections that were previously distributed across the city. The Rooms are divided into two main sections, the art gallery and the museum, both of which spread over two floors, and the exhibits are beautifully presented and thoughtfully composed. The emphasis is very much on all things local, though some of the art displays have more international themes, and a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions occupies every nook and cranny with one exception, Floor 3 of the museum, which has a permanent display that zips through the island's history at speed. Floor plans are available at reception.
