Colonial Building

    Address: Military Road

The limestone Colonial Building is a perfectly proportioned Neoclassical edifice fronted by a stirringly grand portico. It was here that the island's legislature met in session from 1850 until the 1950s, but despite the serenity of the architecture things could get mighty rough: in 1932 the disgruntled citizenry attacked the place and made a determined if unsuccessful effort to lynch the Prime Minister, one Richard Squires.
