Wascana Centre Park
Website: www.wascana.sk.ca
Roughly eight times the size of the Market Square, Regina's most distinctive feature is Wascana Centre Park, which begins three blocks south of 13th Avenue and extends southeast to the city limits, following the curves of Wascana Lake, which was created as part of a work project for the unemployed in the 1930s. The city's main recreation area, the park is equipped with a bandstand (performances Sun 2–4pm), barbecue pits, snack bars, boating facilities and waterfowl ponds, but for the most part it's a cheerless combination of reed-filled water and bare lawn.
