Norrköping
It is with good reason that the dynamic, youth-oriented town of NORRKÖPING calls itself Sweden's Manchester. Like its British counterpart, Norrköping's wealth came from its textile industry, which thrived in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries (the Swedish word for corduroy is manchester). The legacy from this period is the town's most appealing feature: it's one of Europe's best-preserved industrial urban landscapes, with handsome red-brick and stuccoed mills reflected in the waters of Motala Ström.
