It's a ten-minute walk from either the train station or long-distance bus station ( 0771/10 01 10, www.lanstrafikeniac.se ) on Järnvägsallén to the centre, down one of the many parallel streets that lead in the general direction of the river. Ferries to Vaasa in Finland dock at Holmsund, 20km southeast of town ( 090/18 52 00, www.rgline.com ; 1–2 daily except Sat; 4hr; 360kr); bus #125 has inconvenient departures so you'll probably need a taxi (Direkt Taxi 090/10 01 00; Umeå Taxi 090/77 00 00).
