On a rainy day, you may find yourself contemplating the Järnvägsmuséet (Railway Museum), a fifteen-minute walk south from the station following the train tracks. The old engine shed houses fifty or so locomotives, some of them over 100 years old. If you walk here from behind the train station, you'll pass the red wooden fronts and fading company names of the old dockside warehouses off Norra Skeppsbron, a reminder of the days when ships unloaded coffee and spices in the centre of Gävle. Today, the city is still well known for Gevalia coffee, widely available across Sweden.
