Entering or leaving the Old Town, you're bound to pass the Swedish parliament building, the Riksdagshuset. Despite the assassinations of former Swedish prime minister Olof Palme and foreign minister Anna Lindh, Politicians still go freely about their business here, and you'll often see them nipping in and out of the building or lunching in one of the nearby restaurants. The Riksdagshuset itself was completely restored in the 1970s (though only seventy years old even then), and today the grand columned front entrance, seen to best effect from Norrbron, is hardly ever used, the business end concentrated in the new glassy bulge at the back. This being Sweden, the building contains a crèche, and the seating in the chamber itself is in healthy, non-adversarial rows, with members grouped by constituency rather than party.
