One of the better collections in Europe, Stockholm's Museum of Modern Art (Moderna Muséet), is one of the city's must-see museums, with enthusiastic attendants and a comprehensive selection of works by some of the leading artists of the twentieth century. Highlights include Dali's monumental Enigma of William Tell, showing the artist at his most conventionally unconventional, and Matisse's striking Apollo. Look out also for Picasso's Guitar Player; a whole host of Warhol, Lichtenstein, Kandinsky, Miró and Magritte; and the provocative video-painting In Orgia by Lars Nillson. Sharing the same building, the ArchitectureMuseum (Arkitekturmuseet; same times; free) showcases Swedish architectural models and sketches through the centuries, focusing on the post-war social city planning projects that were meant to promote democracy and welfare through egalitarian building practices.
