Gothenburg
Haga
The district of Haga is the city's oldest working-class area, now transformed into the Greenwich Village of Gothenburg. Centred on Haga Nygatan, Haga is one of the city's most picturesque quarters, its cobbled streets lined with pricey alternative-type cafés and antique clothes shops, frequented by right-on and well-off twenty- and thirty-somethings. Although there are a couple of good restaurants along Haga Nygatan, this is really somewhere to come during the day, when tables are put out on the street and the atmosphere is friendly and villagey, if a little self-consciously fashionable.
