The Costa Blanca
South of Valencia stretches a long strip, the Costa Blanca (White Coast), with some of the best beaches on this coast, especially between Gandía and Benidorm. Much of it, though, suffers from the worst excesses of package tourism, with concrete building projects looming over much of the coast, and more on the way. It pays to book ahead in summer, particularly in August. Campers have it somewhat easier – there are hundreds of campsites – but driving can be a nightmare unless you stick to the toll roads.
