Arrival

A Coruña's bus and train stations are on either side of Praza de Madrid. To reach the city centre, walk twenty minutes north, or take bus #1 or #1a to the Praza de María Pita (all city buses €1).

Driving in A Coruña is extremely difficult and unrewarding; no map could do justice to the tangle of dead-end and one-way streets in the old quarter, and it's best to park as soon as possible, ideally in the central, underground Los Cantones car park.

A bright yellow tourist tram loops between the Dársena de la Marina, the Torre de Hercules and the beaches (July & Aug daily noon–9.20pm; every 20min; Sept– June Sat & Sun noon–7pm; hourly; €1). The Coruña Card allows unlimited rides on the trams, free admission to the Torre de Hercules, and discounts on other attractions, for 48 hours; it costs €7 for one adult and one child, €15 for two adults and two children.
