Mérida sees a lot of visitors and has plenty of facilities to cater for them. The train station is pretty central, with the theatre site and Plaza de España no more than ten-minutes' walk away. The bus station is on the other side of the river and is a grittier twenty-minutes' walk from the town centre, along Avenida de Libertad, which extends from the new single-arch bridge.
