Fascinating and fun, the Museu del Cinema details the history of cinema from the first moving images to the present day. Based on the private collection of award-winning local director Tomàs Mallol, the museum has a good mix of interactive exhibits and informative displays to please kids and adults alike. It's especially good on surprisingly sophisticated attempts – shadow theatre, magic lanterns, early 3D photography – by diverse cultures to create animated images prior to the Lumière brothers' first true cinema in 1895; the ground-floor shop stocks a full complement of movie memorabilia.
