1 L'Arc Plaça Catedral 9 The only café in Girona with a cathedral on the terrace. During the day, it's a pleasant spot for coffee or orxata, while at night its vaulted, wood-beamed interior becomes a secluded hideaway.
2 L'Arcada Rambla Llibertat 38 Bar-café tucked under the arcades, with designer-minimalist interior and sought-after outdoor tables, serving good breakfast pastries, pasta and pizza. Opening time: Daily 7.30am–12.30am
3 La Terra c/Ballesteries 23 (tiny sign on door) Popular student hangout that's a wonderfully cavernous space, with glazed tiles everywhere and river-view windows. Juices, foreign beers, coffees, cakes, quiches, teas in a pot. Opening time: Daily 4.30pm–2am
