5 Parador Condes de Alba y Aliste Plaza de Viriato 5
980 514 497
www.parador.es Zamora's classy parador is a stunning conversion of a fifteenth-century palace in the heart of town, mixing lovely rooms with princely trappings throughout, from the heroic medallions surmounting the internal courtyard to the idly positioned suits of armour. A fine restaurant serves updated regional cuisine (mains €16–20), or you can just call in for a drink – the bar (open, like the restaurant, to non-guests) has a garden terrace. Price: €151-200
