Parking is much easier in the modern district. Car parks are signposted as you drive in, or there's plenty of short-term street parking.
The train and bus stations are on the river's west bank, from where it's a twenty-minute walk up to the cathedral, or catch the minibus shuttle (#14), which runs on the hour between 8am and 10pm (Mon– Fri only) between the bus station and Plaza de Santo Domingo, c/Ancha and Plaza Mayor. Trains from the cute yellow FEVE station on the north side of town run a long daily route to and from Bilbao.
