1 Angel Azul c/Lavadero de Tablas 15, west of Plaza Trinidad Along with the nearby Tic Tac (c/Horno de Haza 19), this is the most gay of Granada's gay bars with lots of action at weekends (Spanish-language skills not required).
2 Babylon c/Silleria (between Plaza Nueva and Gran Via). Reggae club – and popular pick-up venue – much favoured by US students.
3 Camborio Camino del Sacromonte s/n Fashionable discobar housed in a cave, which is especially lively at weekends and lifts off about 4am. Be alert for bag-snatchers in this area.
4 Eshavira c/Postigo de la Cuna 2, a tiny alley off c/Azacayas Jazz/flamenco bar that gets quite lively. Opening time: Wed, Thurs & Sun nights only
5 La Estrella c/Cuchilleros Congested, smoky disco-bar with great sounds.
6 Fondo Reservado c/Santa Ines 4 Funky gay and straight bar with a hilarious drag show every weekend.
7 Granada 10 c/Carcél Baja 10, off Gran Vía near the cathedral Small and popular central discoteca inside a beautifully restored old retro cinema.
8 Jazz Café Bohemia c/Santa Teresa 17, west of Plaza Trinidad. Relaxed jazz bar with cool sounds, and walls lined with photos and memorabilia.
9 Patapalo c/Naranjos 2 Stylish discobar appealing to a younger crowd.
10 Peatón Pub c/Socrates 25, off c/Pedro Antonio de Alarcón Rock bar popular with a student crowd.
11 Planta Baja Horno de Abad, off Carril del Picón Long-established discobar – garage and lounge are big here – now in a new home.

Potemkin Plaza Hospicio Viejo s/n Great new pint-sized copas bar with cool sounds run by Richard Dudanski, former drummer with J. Rotten of London's punk era. He's calmed down a bit since, and has discovered a great Japanese chef, whose mouthwatering tapas are the icing on the cake of a night out here.
13 Quilombo c/Carril de San Cecilio 21 With a pool table and big dancefloor that starts humming around 3am. Sometimes stages live music.
14 La Sal c/Santa Paula 11 Originally a lipstick lesbian dance bar, but now attracting male gays, too.
15 Son c/Joaquín Costas 3 Ultra-cool bi-level bar with older salsa upstairs and younger heavy-metal scene in the smoky (not tobacco smoke) downstairs.
