Pressed between Belgium and Germany, the country's southernmost province, Limburg, is shaped like an hourglass, being only 8km in diameter at its narrowest point. The north has the familiar Dutch landscape of flat farmland and woods, while the southern end suddenly sprouts rolling hills studded with vineyards and chateaux.
