From the Villa Valmarana the narrow Strada Valmarana descends the slope to one of Europe's most imitated buildings – Palladio's Villa Capra, known to most people as La Rotonda. La Rotonda is unique among Palladio's villas in that it was designed not as the main building of a farm but as a pavilion in which entertainments could be held and the landscape enjoyed.
