Arrival
The main train station is Stazione Principe, on Piazza Acquaverde, just north of the port and west of the centre, although a number of mainline trains also pass through Stazione Brignole on Piazza Verdi, to the east. Take care if arriving at Principe after dark, and avoid the notorious Via di Prè alley nearby, which is the core territory of Genoa's lowlife. Buses heading to the city outskirts – the Riviera, and inland – arrive on Piazza della Vittoria, a few minutes' walk south of Brignole.
The Aeroporto Cristoforo Colombo (
www.aeroportodigenova.com ) is 6km west of the city centre. Volabus #100 runs to Stazione Principe, to Piazza de Ferrari on the edge of the Old Town, and to Stazione Brignole (every hour; 25min;
010.558.2414). Buy your €4 ticket – valid on all city buses for the whole day – from the driver.
