1 Circus Via San Lazzaro 9. A trendy, buzzing wine bar decorated with old movie posters, and with tables outside. Drinks come with substantial snacks. Opening time: Closed Sun
2 Naima Via Rosetti 6. Younger and more studenty than most, this is basically a disco bar with occasional live music and dancing. Excellent for chilling on the black leather sofas but get there before midnight to claim your spot. Opening time: Daily 7.30pm–3am
3 Osteria da Libero Via Risorta 7. Old-fashioned establishment on the castle hill, virtually the last remaining genuine osteria in the city, full of quirky mementoes collected by the proprietor over the decades. Opening time: Closed Sun
4 Rex Café Gourmet Galleria Protti 1. Modern wine and music bar with a jazzy lounge setting and outdoor tables, too. Opening time: Open early every day for breakfast, then lunch, and on till 2am, except for Sun, when it closes at 10pm
