Waterford's city walls were once punctuated by seventeen towers, of which six still survive. By far the most impressive of these is Reginald's Tower. Dating from the late twelfth century, this bulky three-storey tower was put to many uses, including hosting the wedding of Strongbow and Dermot MacMurrough's daughter. For a time it was a mint – there's a display on the coinage produced here – later becoming an arsenal before being used as a jail from around 1819. Various displays and a short video document the tower's story and its place in Waterford's history.
