Tipperary and Waterford

Holy Trinity Cathedral

Address: To the east of Waterford Treasures

Waterford architect John Roberts was responsible for the many-windowed Chamber of Commerce on George Street, but his prime ecclesiastical design is Holy Trinity Cathedral (free) on Barronstrand Street. This dates from 1793, but was much revised in the following century, resulting in today's flamboyant building. Its heavily ornate interior features a Baroque pulpit dwarfed by a soaring baldachin, all set beneath an impressively high-vaulted ceiling.
