Currency in the Republic is the euro (€), in Northern Ireland the pound sterling (£). Standard bank hours are Mon– Fri 9.30am–4.30pm (Republic and Northern Ireland). However, hours vary from branch to branch; most have a later closing time on Thurs (5pm) and some are open Saturday morning. There are ATMs throughout Ireland – though not in all villages – and most accept a variety of cards. The exchange rate at the time of writing was €1.47/£1.
