Limerick and Clare
County Limerick
County Limerick (Luimneach) divides itself largely between dairy farming on the fertile Munster plain and manufacturing along the River Shannon, though neither is likely to tempt you to stay here long. The beautiful Neolithic site of Lough Guris the main reason to get out into the county. You'll need your own transport for the latter, but the city is well served by trains – from Ennis and points east and south via Limerick Junction – and by buses from just about anywhere.
