The Nora Barnacle House is the family home of James Joyce's wife and muse. As much for its memorabilia of Joyce, enthusiastically explained by the curator, the tiny, one-up, one-down house is worth visiting for its insight into urban living conditions in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The Barnacles and most of their eight kids slept in the upstairs room, while the downstairs room was kitchen, dining and living room, and often bedroom, with perhaps a few chickens in the minuscule backyard.
