Dublin

The Northside

North of the river lies the wide boulevard of O'Connell Street, where the GPO, resonant site of the 1916 Easter Rising, is now complemented by the soaring modern beauty of the Spike. Just to the east of here is the Abbey Theatre, while further north Parnell Square is home to the Dublin Writers Museum, the Hugh Lane Municipal Art Gallery and the city's other great theatre, The Gate.

In the city's suburbs, is the splendid stadium home of the Gaelic Athletic Association, Croke Park, containing a fine museum.
