1 Café Conor 11A Stranmillis Rd Opening time: Daily 9am–11pmOpposite the Ulster Museum in the artist Willie Conor's former studio, this café has an interesting, affordable Mediterranean-style menu, and is good for brunch.
2 Café Equinox 32 Howard St One of the recent bloom of café-society hangouts, at the back of the Equinox interiors shop. As you'd expect, it looks good, with food to match.
3 Café Paul Rankin 27–29 Fountain St Modernist interiors, gourmet coffees and, best of all, choice Mediterranean breads.
4 Café Renoir 93–95 Botanic Ave Very popular branch of the local chain, offering everything from coffee and snacks to bistro-style meals and a pizzeria.
5 Café Vaudeville 25–39 Arthur St Laughably pretentious on some levels, this "Art Nouveau" café-bar, somehow transplanted from Montmartre to Belfast, does serve some of the city's finest coffee and its meals successfully blend Parisian élan with down-to-earth Antrim cooking.
6 Deane's Deli 44 Bedford St Opening time: Open till 10pm Wed– SatServes splendid sandwiches and more substantial meals.
7 Delaney's 19 Lombard St Economical, wholesome food from a self-service café handily placed in the main shopping area.
