    The tiny City of Derry Airport ( 028/7181 0784, www.cityofderryairport.com ) is seven miles northeast of town on the A2 road. It's connected by Ulsterbus services #143A and #234 to the train station and Foyle Street bus station; a taxi from the airport to the city centre costs around £10. The Airporter coach service (Mon– Fri 4am–7.30pm, Sat 6am–4pm, Sun 8am–4pm; Mon– Fri 13 daily, Sat & Sun 6 daily; single £15, return £25; couples £25 single & £40 return; 028/7126 9996, www.airporter.co.uk ) runs services to and from Belfast International (1hr 30min) and Belfast City (2hr) airports from outside the Quayside Shopping Centre, Strand Road.

    Derry's train station ( 028/7134 2228) is situated in the Waterside district across the River Foyle and a 15min walk to the town centre. The central bus station is on Foyle Street and is served by Ulsterbus ( 028/7126 2261) for all the main Northern Ireland destinations and Bus Éireann (information from Ulsterbus), which operates buses to Dublin, Donegal town, Galway and Sligo. In addition, Lough Swilly ( 028/7126 2017) and North West Busways ( 074/938 2619) run services across the border into Donegal; the former operates from the bus station and the latter from Patrick Street. Local city buses leave from stops along Foyle Street. Blacktaxis operate from Foyle Street and William Street, or call Delta Cabs ( 028/7127 9999) or the Derry Taxi Association ( 028/7126 0247).
