Severikirche
Address: Domplatz
Smaller than the Dom, the adjacent Severikirche, with a crown of three spires, refuses to be overshadowed. Near the entrance of a surprisingly spacious five-aisled hall church lies the fourteenth-century sarcophagus of St Severi, its sheer bulk softened through the use of pink sandstone and a beautifully rendered life-story of the saint whose remains arrived in Erfurt in 836 AD. Other eye-catchers are the St Michael who spears one of the most vivid medieval devils you'll ever see, and a font covered by an extravagant fifteen-metre Gothic trellis.
