Behind the Trinkhalle, the Benazetweg path idles up the Michaelsberg to the Stourdza-Kapelle amid redwoods and rhododendrons. Michael Stourdza, having settled in Baden-Baden after his exile as last ruler of Moldovia, commissioned Munich master architect Leo von Klenze to build this requiem for his 17-year-old son, killed in a Paris duel in 1863. Pathos in the dignified marble interior comes from frescoes of the dead prince and his parents.
