1 Mensa Gropiusallee 38 To fully immerse yourself in Bauhaus eat in the school's canteen in the same wing as the exhibitions and shop. Mains here cost no more than €6, and are enjoyed on unforgiving benches in austere Bauhaus surroundings; there's always a veggie option. In the basement of the same building, the Bauhaus Klub offers light dishes and drinks until midnight.

Kornhaus Kornhausstrasse 146 
0340/640 41 41 For a full meal in Bauhaus surroundings try the to the Kornhaus, Bauhaus architect Carl Fieger's wonderfully curved 1930 restaurant, beer and dance hall which has a balcony overlooking the Elbe. It serves contemporary cuisine, with fish dishes such as marinated Alaskan shellfish and organic vegetables often part of its very reasonable €16.50 three-course menu. From the northern edge of the Park Georgium it's a five-minute walk west along the Elbe also reached via a 1.5km walk along Kornhausstrasse, or bus #10 or #11 from the Hauptbahnhof.
