The Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf, housed in the eighteenth-century Spee'sches Palais and its eye-catching modern extension, presents an engrossing overview of Düsseldorf's history, with labelling in English and German. Exhibits include a model of the long-vanished Schloss and a French passport dating from the Napoleonic occupation. You'll also see packaging from the Henkel company, whose Persil washing powder is Düsseldorf's most famous brand name.
