Getting around

The bus, tram and U-Bahn system ( www.rheinbahn.com ) fans out from the Hauptbahnhof – useful if your hotel is any distance from the Altstadt. Fares are in line with other cities of the VRR network – travel up to three stops for €1.30 on a Kurzstrecke ticket or throughout the city on a €2.20 Class A ticket. A €5.20 TagesTicket is valid all day from the moment you validate it. If, however, you plan to visit museums or galleries, go for the Düsseldorf WelcomeCard (24hr €9, 48 hr €14, 72 hr €19) which offers free or reduced entry plus unlimited use of public transport.
