Two of Dortmund's more engrossing industrial heritage sites can be reached easily by train from the Hauptbahnhof. Zeche Zollern, is, like Essen's Zollverein, an architecturally distinguished former coal mine. In this case the buildings are a mixture of revival and Jugendstil, and provide a setting for permanent and temporary exhibitions of the LWL Industrial Museum documenting working life in a colliery in the first half of the twentieth century.
