Schloss Clemensruhe

    Address: Poppelsdorfer Allee

From the western end of the Hofgarten, broad Poppelsdorfer Allee connects the Schloss with the Poppelsdorfer Schloss or Schloss Clemensruhe, the Electors' Rococo summer palace, completed in the eighteenth century by Balthasar Neumann and now part of the university. In summer it is the venue for concerts, while its gardens are now the Botanische Gärten Bonn (April– Oct Sun– Fri 9am–6pm; Nov– March Mon– Fri 9am–4pm; €2 on Sun, otherwise free), one of the oldest and largest plant collections in Germany. The glasshouses (April– Oct Mon– Fri 10am– noon & 2–4pm, Sun 10am–5.30pm; Nov– March 10am– noon & 2–4pm) contain the world's largest water lilies.
