The Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum featurers an eclectic art collection, though the presentation is a little old-fashioned in places. There's sublime medieval religious wood carving, some seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish masters and a selection of twentieth-century German art on the ground floor that includes works by Max Slevogt, Max Beckmann, Lovis Corinth and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. Highlights include Lucas Cranach the Elder's gory Judith with the Head of Holofernes, and there's some excellent modern stained glass.
