On the east side of the Rathaus at is the Couven Museum, a handsome old town house that is now a museum of bourgeois interiors from the Rococo to the Biedermeier. The Festsaal on the first floor is particularly lovely, with five tall windows giving views across to the Rathaus; so too is the elegant early nineteeth-century Biedermeier furniture on the top floor. The reconstructed pharmacy on the ground floor alludes to the history of the house itself; there was a pharmacy on the premises as early as 1662.
