Villa Stuck
Address: Prinzregentenstrasse
Opening time: Tues– Sun 11am–6pm
Price: €4
On the east side of the River Isar, the last in Prinzregentenstrasse's line-up of art attractions is the Villa Stuck, the former home of Franz von Stuck (1863–1928), one of the founders of the Munich Secession and a tutor of Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. The house was conceived as a Gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art unifying life, work, art and architecture, music, theatre and a dash of narcissism. An eclectic mix of Jugendstil and other styles current at the time, the villa provides a suitably lush setting for Stuck's own work as well as a venue for temporary exhibitions on his artistic contemporaries.
