The essential counterpoint to the Glypothek's statuary is provided by the more fragile artworks of the StaatlicheAntikensammlung. Here, you can feast your eyes on astonishingly delicate jewellery in the basement, including many very beautiful Etruscan earrings, a solid-gold diadem from the Greek Black Sea colony of Pantikapeion in what is now Ukraine, dated 300 BC, and a splendid gold funerary wreath from Armento in Italy, dated to 370–360 BC. The ground floor of the museum is devoted to Greek pottery in all its varieties, variously decorated with mythological themes or with scenes from everyday life.
