The Baroque Georgenpalais houses the Wilhelm-Busch-Museum, devoted to the Hannover-born nineteenth-century artist who dreamed of emulating Rubens but stumbled into immortality as the father of the modern cartoon strip with Max und Moritz. Alongside Busch's works are four centuries of satirical art, and every three months an exhibition of a luminary of the graphic arts; past masters have included Goya and Hogarth. The lake beyond is crossed by a bridge by Laves.
