Two square kilometres of landscaped lawns, cattle-grazed meadows and woodland make up the Bürgerpark, a lovely place to while away an afternoon in a rowing boat – boat rental is available from a kiosk (April– May 14 Mon– Sat 2–6pm, Sun 10am–6pm; May 15– Sept 14 Mon 2–6pm, Tues– Sun 10am–6pm; Sept 15– Oct 3 Mon– Sat 2–5pm, Sun 11am–5pm) on the southwestern Emmasee – or over a picnic. Other eating options are one-time summerhouse Meierei at the centre, and beer garden Waldbühne in the northeast.
