The Hauptbahnhof lies 3km southwest of the central Marktplatz to which it's joined by line #3 of a tram-cum-light-rail service (single ticket €2, 24hr €4.80 or €6.50 for groups of up to six people). These services are the hub of a system that extends all the way to Baden-Baden and Bruchsal.
