Getting around

Central Lyon is linked to the suburbs by an efficient métro, as well as trolleybuses and a slick tram system. At métro stations or the city transport TCL offices, the cheapest way to buy tickets is in a carnet of ten (€12.80), or there's the Ticket Liberté, valid for 24hr (€4.40). Ordinary tickets (€1.60) are flat-rate within an hour's duration and limited to a single one-way journey, with changes allowed. The métro runs 5am–12.30am, though some bus lines close as early as 8pm. The bureau de guides, situated next to the Vieux Lyon metro station, on Avenue Adolphe-Max, has information on other tourist-friendly tickets offering discounts on travel round the city.
