1 Au Bureau place Plumereau One of a number of places serving pizzas and simple dishes on the square, but of a slightly higher calibre than its competitors.
2 Chez Jean-Michel 123 rue Colbert

3 Comme Autre-Fouée 11 rue de la Monnaie
02.47.05.94.78 The food served here is a revival of the archaic fouace (or fouée) breads immortalized by Rabelais, served hot and heavily garnished with local titbits. An excellent option for a quick lunch. Opening time: Closed Sun, Mon & Tues lunch
4 Au Lapin qui Fume 90 rue Colbert
02.47.66.95.49 Tiny, relaxed but elegant restaurant serving a good menu that's half Loire and half south of France. Lots of lapin (rabbit) – it comes as a terrine, as a fricassée with rosemary, or confit – but it's not obligatory. Evening menus around the €20 mark.
